For someone who has seen the Telegu/Tamil version of Ghajini it is but natural that comparisons are going to crop up. As per me, Ghajini(AAmir version) for me has bettered the Ghajini(Surya Version). Not taking anything away from the laudable performance given by Surya, AAmir did a job thats way par excellence. He carried the role of the charming business man with as much panache as he carried the role of the beast baying for blood . He was not AAmir any more. He was the character. Asin did a fine job and for me she is the next big thing in bollywood. She is Beauty personified. The Post-release happenings have completely justifies the Pre-release hype. All in All a must-watch and a never-miss.

Disappointed by Gajini

In contrast to the much hype it created Gajini to me appeared to be an ordinary movie. Not to take any credits away from its good star cast and their acting performances the bottomline remains that all these talented actors were wasted. Neither the powerful plot nor the talented Aamir Khan were exploited to their full potentials. Had it not been for Aamir and the songs the movie would have never came anywhere near its southern counterpart. Its only while watching the movie that we come across "Asin" the only fresh thing in this movie. Asin is a marvellous actress and has the ability to create instant attachment. All other things were extremely stale and illogical. Why do we need a South indian Fight sequence in a national movie. It degraded the cinema to a typically "B-grade" stuff. The movie was extremely predictable like Aamir forgetting Gajini in the final fight sequence. It was much louder. The killing scene of asin looks to be all masala than genuine. Common you can kill people in much better manner and still have impavts. Look for instance Satya where Navodit Chakroborty is shot at Urmilas door steps. Or still better the way Manoj Bajpai is killed in the same movie. It leaves you numb. or for that instance all the people killed in the encounter. You agree or not there much to learn from Ramu. Songs was the biggest disappointment. Except Gujarish and kaise mujhe tum none of the songs i felt belonged to the movie. Kaise mujhe tum is shot extremely well and touched the chord of my heart. However other songs appeared more to be video album sort. I would better stick to listening rather than watching and forget that they are from gajini. With songs being shot realistically today as in jaane tu and rock on , gajini seems to be a step backwards. I personally feel that songs shoud be a necessity and not a marketing strategy. There are only a few courageous directrs like Madhur Bhandarkar and Ram Gopal Verma who really know the craft of incorporating songs in movies. However hats off to the prfectionist Aamir Khan. No matter what he still justifies his role. He has done full justice to his versatile role and has a powerful performance. He has brilliantly mixed the shades of violence and emotions and will be long remembered for his role.
